As time went on.....

The Love Story
Part Three

Carlos and I often found ourselves spending time together with just the two of us. Being that many of our "group" friends got married or were having kids, we were the singles who were able to stay out late or be more flexible in our schedules. I always had a million projects around my house that needed a man's touch and Carlos graciously offered his help. I wasn't sure just how handy he would be, but as the months passed, I had fewer outstanding "man jobs" around the house! He does GREAT work and proved to be quite competent.

Not only did he prove to be a great asset around the house, but most importantly, he loved my cats! And they liked him. On one occasion, one of my precious babies had to go to the vet on short notice and I was so upset. I got to the vet and within ten minutes of my arrival, Carlos walked in! He said he knew I would be upset and need support and he left work to come be with us. On another occasion, Carlos sat in my back yard reading his bible, when my cat Barty walked up to him and climbed into his lap and curled up as Carlos continued to read to him.

So Carlos became my stand-in man for dates to my friend's weddings, hockey games and karaoke out with friends, but he always knew there was something different about me, so he would pursue me in his own subtle ways. I went out for coffee one morning with a girlfriend and came home to a dozen roses. That day, Carlos took me out to sushi, ice cream, a movie and bought me 2 purses! This guy knew how to speak my love language! Nights out for Sushi became our past-time and we were very comfortable with each other. We loved the fact that we were the kind of friends who could wear sweats and not shower for each other!

Needless to say, over these next several months we were very close friends. I was still praying that God would bring me Mr. Right and asked him if Carlos was in the way.

Was I ever going to get it?
